Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

This notice explains how ServeIT Technology collects and uses personal information when you visit serveit.tech or get in touch with us, and the rights you have over that information. We follow UK data protection law: the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

If you are a customer, how we handle data as part of the services we provide (for example support, backups or data recovery) is covered in your agreement with us.

1. Who we are

ServeIT Technology is a trading name of ServeIT Technology Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14843408), whose registered office is at The Strawberry Fields Digital Hub, Euxton Lane, Chorley, PR6 1PS. We are the controller of the personal information described in this notice.

For anything to do with this notice or your personal information, contact us:

2. The information we collect

When you contact us. If you use the contact form on our website, we collect your first name, last name, email address and the message you send. If you email or phone us, we collect your contact details and whatever you choose to tell us. Please don’t include sensitive information (for example health details) or passwords in your message.

When you visit our website. Like most websites, our web server automatically records technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the date and time. We use this to keep the website running securely and to investigate problems or abuse.

Spam protection. To stop the contact form being misused, we store a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of the sender’s IP address for one hour so we can limit the number of messages sent from one connection. It is deleted automatically after that hour.

We don’t buy personal information from third parties, and we don’t use our website to collect information about children.

3. How we use it and our lawful basis

UK data protection law says we must have a lawful basis for each way we use personal information. These are ours:

  • Replying to your enquiry and giving you a quote. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
  • Providing a service you have asked for. Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you.
  • Keeping our website and systems secure, and preventing spam and abuse. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our website, our business and our visitors.
  • Keeping records we are required to keep, and dealing with legal claims. Lawful basis: legal obligation, or our legitimate interest in establishing or defending legal claims.

We won’t send you marketing emails unless you have asked us to or we are otherwise allowed to by law, and you can opt out at any time. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Our website does not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking cookies, and the fonts and icons are served from our own website rather than a third party.

The only cookies we use are strictly necessary ones that our website software (WordPress) and our caching system set for people who log in to manage the site, such as wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wordpress_test_cookie and _lscache_vary. Ordinary visitors browsing the site don’t receive these. Because these cookies are strictly necessary, the law does not require us to ask for consent, but you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

If we add any other cookies in future, we will update this notice and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

5. Who we share it with

We only share personal information where we need to. This includes:

  • Our website hosting provider, which stores our website and its server logs in the UK.
  • Our email provider, which delivers messages from our contact form to our inbox.
  • Professional advisers such as our accountants, lawyers and insurers, where needed.
  • Police, regulators or other authorities, where the law requires us to.

Our suppliers act on our instructions under written contracts that require them to keep your information secure and use it only to provide their service to us.

6. Where your information is stored

Our website is hosted in the UK. If any of our suppliers process your information outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement approved under UK law.

7. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to any work: up to 12 months after our last contact with you.
  • Copies of contact form messages held in our website’s email log: deleted automatically after 90 days.
  • If you become a customer: for as long as we work together, and then for up to 6 years afterwards to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
  • Server logs: for a limited period set by our hosting provider for security purposes.

8. How we keep it secure

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information. These include encrypted (HTTPS) connections to our website, limited access to personal information on a need-to-know basis, strong access controls, and keeping our systems up to date.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (right of access);
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete (rectification);
  • ask us to delete your information (erasure);
  • ask us to limit how we use your information (restriction);
  • object to us using your information where we rely on legitimate interests, and object to direct marketing at any time;
  • ask us to transfer information you gave us to another organisation (data portability);
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

Some of these rights only apply in certain circumstances. To use any of them, contact us using the details above. There is normally no charge. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within one month, or tell you within that month if we need up to two more months because your request is complex.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, you have the right to complain to us. Please email info@serveit.tech or write to us at the address above. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it without undue delay, keep you updated and tell you the outcome.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, but you can contact the ICO at any time:
